Kiefer Sutherland Western Forsaken Bought by Momentum for U.S.

Momentum Pictures has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the western “Forsaken,” starring Kiefer Sutherland and his father Donald Sutherland, from Minds Eye Entertainment.

The film will have its world premiere on Sept. 16 at the Toronto Film Festival. The movie is the first film in which the Sutherlands have starred together.

The story is set in 1872 when Kiefer Sutherland’s character retires as a gunfighter and returns to his hometown of Fowler, Wyoming in hope of repairing his relationship with his estranged father, who is also a reverend. He soon learns that the town is in turmoil, as the railroad will be coming through the area and a criminal gang is terrorizing ranchers who refuse to sell their land — but his father does not want his son to return to a life of violence.

Supporting cast includes Brian Cox, Michael Wincott, Greg Ellis and Aaron Poole.

Jon Cassar, who worked with Kiefer Sutherland on “24,” directed”Forsaken” from a Brad Mirman script. Producers are Kevin DeWalt, Josh Miller, Bill Marks, Gary Howsam and Isabella Marchese Ragona.
