Florida police offer reward for information about murdered mother and daughter

Police are offering a $400,000 reward for information into the deaths of a mother and her seven-year-old daughter who were found bound, gagged and shot outside an upmarket mall.

Nancy Bochicchio, 47, was discovered alongside her daughter Joey Bochicchio-Hauser inside her SUV next to the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, Florida in December 2007.

Investigators believe the pair were abducted and taken to an ATM, where they were forced to withdraw $500.

When their bodies were discovered, a variety of materials including duct tape, plastic ties, hand cuffs and goggles had been used to restrain them.

Their hands, feet and neck were bound in such a way they could not have moved from the vehicle.

Police have investigated numerous leads and suspects in the Florida area, but nobody has ever been charged with their murders.

Now Boca Raton Police and the FBI have announced that they will offer a $400,000 reward to anyone with information that could lead to a conviction for their deaths.

The local police had previously offered a $350,000 reward. The FBI has now contributed $50,000 to take the total to $400,000.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Special Agent Michael D’Alonzo told a press conference: 'We feel like someone has information out there and we need their help.

'We want to solve these murders. Someone saw something that will help this investigation. Please come forward.'

Meanwhile the lead detective on the case said officers keep pictures of Ms Bochicchio and her daughter on their desks as a constant reminder that their killers are still out there.

Boca Raton Police Chief Daniel Alexander said: 'We carry them with us everyday. Any opportunity we have to make a plea, we’re going to take it.'

Ms Bochicchio and her daughter were last seen on December 12, 2007, when they entered the Town Center Mall next to the Sears and Neiman Marcus department stores and left an hour later.

Following their abduction, a 911 call was made from Ms Bochicchio's cell phone to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, but it was disconnected before dispatchers could answer it.

The operator tried to call back but received no response.

Ms Bochicchio and her daughter were found shot dead in the back of their car. It is unclear if they were killed at the mall or elsewhere.

The case has appeared on America's Most Wanted three times, and detectives have followed up more than 2,000 leads.

No one has been arrested but Boca Raton police believe the killings are linked to an August 2007 carjacking in which the victim survived. That victim provided information that led to a sketch of the man believed to be responsible.

He is described as an adult white or Hispanic male, 5ft 10 to 6ft tall, medium build, possibly with a ponytail. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS or Detective Hanley at 561-338-1344.
